Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) inquiry – Unequal impact: Covid-19 and the impact on people with protected characteristics (2020)
In April 2020, the WEC launched an inquiry into the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on people with protected characteristics (that is people who are discriminated against on the grounds of “age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership and pregnancy and maternity”). The ECP’s submission demanded ‘emergency payments for sex workers who are destitute, a moratorium on arrests and prosecutions, an increase in Universal Credit to the level of the living wage’. The Committee is yet to issue a report.
